Wrightsville Beach is one of North Carolina's best beach locations and is a popular day trip for many North Carolinians, including me! I have long wanted to paint Plein Air at the beach but put it off because I was concerned about the sand, heat and wind.
This June, after careful planning, I decided to do it and do it in a big way! I put up a canopy, filled a beach wagon and brought a 30x40 inch canvas onto Wrightsville Beach at 8:00am. I left at 6:00pm and was satisfied that I had a mostly completed painting.
The weather was perfect and it was a complete joy being there. I met lots of people during the day and wished I could have stayed longer. The song "Oh Happy Day" kept going through my mind.
